"Foreign exchange trips under threat" is the title of an article from the Telegraph written in June 2008.
Many pupils didn't take a foreign language at GCSE in 2007
This may be a consequence of the government decision to make the study of languages voluntary at 14.
Moreover,"from October 2009, anyone working in education, health, leisure...must be registered with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) if they come in contact with under-16s". Applicants will have to pay a fee of £64 to register.
Because of all these new child protection rules , many schools have been forced to drop exchange trips ...
